Open House: look at art and/or walk in Fener/Balat
| Fener/Balat, March 13th 2011, an historical area where there is a lot to see.
Five years I lived in Fener and since a few months in Balat. Not for a day I regret that I have landed in this area.
In the house where I live now I have a hobby room where I can indulge my creativity. I write poems, paint, model and
work with glass. Meanwhile I have designed a fair number of necklaces and earrings and I work with metal-, copper-,
silver- and coated metal- thread and different beads. Soon I will start workshops where you can learn to make your
own necklaces and earrings. It is possible to bring your old beads and redesign a new necklace or earrings.

On March the 13th I have Open House from 15.00 – 19.00 hrs. There will be Turkish, Dutch and Iranian snacks and
of course something to drink. A few musicians of the Roma Sulukule orchestra will play their music. |

In a few places in Balat you can go and have a look at different kind of art. At my place there will be an exhibition of photos
of Arjen Zwart, a Dutch freelance photographer who lives in Istanbul. He works for the press and at private projects.
He also gives workshops ‘street photography and digital photography’. At the Open House Day you can ask him questions
about his workshops. This year he will have an exhibition of his last project ‘zift’
organized in one of the locations
of the Anadolu Kültür Centre in Beyoğlu. In accordance to 400 years of friendship between Turkey and Holland his photos
will be exhibited in the Istanbul Modern museum next year.
Marc Guillet, a Dutch journalist, organizes on the 13th of March a walk through this historical area where there is so
much to see. He will also visit places where you can see art. At the end of this walk he will come with his group to my
house to listen to the music, eat a snack and drink something.
The open House is free, so are the snacks and the wine, but we expect you to give some money for the musicians.
If you have any musical instruments that you don’t use anymore, please let me know, the school will be very happy with them.
|
| Marc's walk costs 25 Euro per person.
You can subscribe per e-mail: guillet.marc@gmail.com
Also for the Open House you need to subscribe per email: theijn63@hotmail.com
After I’ve received your email I’ll send my address and how to get there.
Hope to see you on the 13th of March,
Anna Theijn. | Foto's: Slawomira Kozieniec |
